"About 5:30 tonight the doorbell rang and it was the Boy and his Father smiling at me . The boy reached out and handed me his cherished Bank which was in the shape of a Dragon and told me this was my reward and perhaps there was enough in it for me to win more money with at the Casino..I didn't take the Bank but stuffed two $10's in it and sent him back to be with his Bunny and enjoy being 7 years old."

I know that this forum is related to slots and gambling, but it's extremely refreshing to read a story like this. It's my humble opinion that your efforts resulted in a much bigger "win" than you would ever experience from a handpay (and yes, we all know how exhilarating that can be, of course).

Money is one thing, the gratitude on the young boy's face, plus his offer of a piggy bank reward, is priceless. Your gesture of putting a couple of ten dollar bills in the bank and giving it back is a credit to your character, sir.

Thanks for posting the story, it made my morning.

Andy's Tales have a way of making mornings awesome! I love when I see that there is a long post from him and I grab a coffee and just enjoy!

Many years ago I had a college professor who told me to convey what I felt was important to me, and those who surround me. I consider this act one of my best achievements for the year so far. I put myself in that young boys mind and tried to imagine how bad he felt when his little pet escaped and that he may have never seen it again. I'm sure we all have moments in our lives that we would like to redo with a different outcome, but can't. Thankfully this little boy doesn't have to ......

Thanks for the story! I know how happy the little boy was. I'm amazed that you caught that bunny too.

Thank you for the "happy ending" story, Andy. Having lost a pet at one time, I can still remember the relief I felt when he was found... that 7 year old boy will love that little bunny even more now....

    Hi Steph,

Took a short walk just now and took Thumper down a bag of fresh Sunflower sprouts that appear every day under my Bird Feeders.. That's where I spotted him twice before his Odyssey ended this past Tuesday and he wasted no time in nibbling on them..
I had to take all the songbird feeders down as the Dept.of Wildlife has posted an advisory to do so, warning there is a strange ailment occurring which is killing lots of songbirds in Md.Va. Pa. and N.J. right now and the birds are going blind before they die. Advised to stop feeding them so they are not congregating until they get a handle on what is causing it. Some are saying it may be tied in to the Cicada hatches over the last several weeks as the birds have been gorging on them..

Oh my..... that does not sound good for the birds. 17 years ago hubs and I were traveling to see my father. We decided to take a different route than usual, and rather than the freeway, ended up in the burbs. At a stoplight in a smaller community, I asked hubs if he could hear that noise.... and I thought it was my car. We went through the light and pulled over next to the town square t.... a park-like area.... to investigate. We had noticed there was a lot of "debris" on the street, but gave it little thought. When we got out of the car, the sound was deafening.... Cicadas.... EVERYWHERE. Dead, alive, and in between. This is the only time I have ever heard or seen these.... and it was quite the experience. Our car grill brought about 50-100 of them to my father's house. Took me a while to pick them all out of the grill where they were stuck like glue. God is an amazing creator.... so many varied creations... this one only every 17 years. Hopefully, the birds in your area will be ok... summer is just better when you can hear the songbirds in the morning.
