    ~~~Please Help me Stay Away!!!!!
    After reading so many threads and stories about our rough gambling times and our plans to do better, I thought I would start this thread as a placeholder for anyone who wants to post here to get support from other SF members to talk them out of going when they get tempted.
    We have a great group of people that will cheer you on when you are heading to the casino but that are also caring and supportive of those who feel like they need to take a break.
    Good luck and stay strong!
    If nobody went, we would not have anything to talk about?? I'll be in Vegas Sunday, so look forward to a TR when I get back.
    My advice is to avoid the locals as much as possible, and spend more money in Vegas.
    I'll be on here some. I'm not going to any casino in Jan, but I'm gonna pretend. Instead of getting up early Sunday mornings and going, I'm gonna get up, put $100 cash into my Winnersbank, make a bloody Mary, turn on my laptop, and play Colossal Reels with $100 of virtual money. I'll post any 'Big Wins' on this thread.
    Haha I'm not saying no one should go just sometimes people might be thinking they shouldn't go and wants someone to help talk them out of it. Kind of like someone else said a "virtual" GA support group.
    Sounds like a smart plan to me, I'm hoping the nasty weather in January will also keep me away. I have lots of free slots to play on my ipad
    I'm on a bit of a sabbatical in January. I've gained about 15 lbs in the last year since I stopped playing hockey. I'm cutting WAY down on beer, limiting myself to about 2000 calories a day, limit my spending to $50/day, and not going to a casino.
    However I will be buying plane tickets for Vegas for spring break!
    Georgiagambler, it is a noble idea, but lets say lets meet at the corner bar to help each other not drink. Sometimes if you really want to not do something, you have to just not do it or just decide to control it.
    My problem is just not knowing what else to do. Everything else just seems Boring and drinking and carousing seems too dangerous. Maybe it's just a form of procrastination for me, but it's always going to be something for me no matter what I choose. Perfection is overrated and as futile as anything else. Moderation is often the best answer and when you gamble you just have to sometimes stop looking up wanting something else. If people are having trouble, just listen to your conscience.
    I edit this because I am so itchy to go to the casino since I had luck on New Year's. The weather is horrible and not worth driving in but I want to go anyways. I have my intellectual side and my risk taking side, so know how hard it is to control Mr. Hyde.
    This is actually a good idea! We want to cut way back on our casino visits this year, and reading that so many others are feeling the same way had a positive effect. Our favorite casino is making it very difficult for us to continue at the same pace. Sure, we had some wins last year, but the losses were much more frequent and really put us in the hole. The problem is that going to the casino every weekend has become such a habit. We've forgotten how to have any kind of fun that doesn't involve a slot machine!
    I know not everyone here plays the same way. Some people have much more discipline than we do! But I would benefit from hearing that others are successfully staying away.
    The bad weather is keeping us away this weekend, and we've made other plans for next weekend .... Lets keep it going!
