These kind of stories make me question whether the games we play are truly random or that slot sessions are manipulated. How can the other lady hit nothing betting max, which will not absolutely not end until she is wiped out then 4 minutes later the guy bets the min and wins a jackpot? It seems they can do whatever they want as long as the machine pays out the required payback percentage.

I personally don't think the slot machines are random any longer. They are computers.... and a computer can be programmed for anything. I believe that the slot machines of today can be programmed to pay out on certain bet amounts, that the machines can be programmed to not pay out any bonus or progressives, or that they can program a bonus or progressive only on max bet besides the payout percentage even if it is a progressive or bonus on any bet amount. With server based games, they can change those things with a few clicks of a mouse if you are winning too much. I no longer trust that slot machines are random... no matter what they tell me. I look for the oldest machines in the casino when I go for just these reasons. When it was RNG only games, winning was much more often. Now? Hardly at all.... bonuses are minimal, and few and far between, and line hits are the same. Sadly, I no longer go as often because of this.

The bonus rounds are almost always pathetic these days. Last week at MGM Detroit I was throwing 9$ spins at a Wonder 4 tower. 400 and hit roughly 5 bonuses, none more than 40$. The Super spins are nothing more than a dream, as they may hit once every 2-3 hours. Moved to a Wonder 4 wheel at 8$ a spin and getting bonuses that barely cover 4 spins as well.

I once walked up to my sister and niece who were sitting at a bank of Gold Bonanza with an empty machine so I joined them. My sister said "I just dropped 300 on that machine - it is dead" - and I proceeded to get a bonus in the first couple of spins. She literally looked over at me with a really pissed look and gave me the finger. We still laugh about that moment last year. I'm usually way luckier than her, other than the time she won $15K cash in the same tournament that I was in.

I took a quick trip to Margaritaville in Bossier City Sunday and got what Bigred1001 spoke of.

I got on the Wonder 4,s and the Wonder 4 Towers to enjoy my 500 in free play they sent me. (stayed away 9 months and they lured me back with free play)

I had no problems hitting the Bonus it was just that it did not amount to anything. Put a hundred in and max bet at 8 to 12 dollars a spin. Hit a bonus after 40 bucks and proceeded to win 24 bucks! run that 60 down to 30 and hit another bonus. Rub my hands together because I know after that last bonus it is going to give me a good one. LOL....11 dollars!!

Thats the way my freeplay went. I even had a 12.00 bonus that payed 8 Bucks, and a retrigger bonus with 23 spins for 24 dollars.

I've decided my next trip will be to the ding, ding, ding of red screens in Oklahoma.

Yep, we frequent both the Shreveport/Bossier casinos and the Indian Casinos of Oklahoma. Over the long haul, we have had much more success in Oklahoma and always love seeing those red screens! (Gotta admit though, Louisiana really tugs at us to come back with all the goodies and freebies offered).

Combine that with them letting the whole payout trickle in one penny at a time! The music never seems to stop and they always have it at max volume so it sounds like a giant party for a 20$ win on a 75c bet. My wife likes to let every pay slowly accumulate on the credit meter and I am always reaching over her and just pushing the bet button again.

I also agree 100% with you, dear lady. The computer age has changed Charles Fey's mechanical and modest invention into a Monster that not only addicts us into its parlor but squeezes our life bread from our back pockets in minutes as we stand by babbling justification.

The worst part is that government goes along and allows the trickery. Any other such dubious enterprise would be investigated, shut down and punished. So it seems for many reasons that we have a case of collusion and conspiracy between our Protector and those who wish to pick our pockets.

I hate to be so cynical in my old age and after a lifetime of slot playing that used to be so enjoyable. But it is what it is. Given the fact that gambling is now so prevalent in the USA, the government needs to step in and regulate with strict enforcement in order to protect its citizenry. It could even consider taking over the industry (as gaming is conducted in some other countries) to insure a fair deal both for the providers and the participants. The present regimen is not satisfactory. It's happy days for the industry and sour lemons for customers. And we know something is greedily wrong when the slot machine manufacturers are unhappy that the casino bosses are squeezing the golden goose to the point of strangulation.
