    Hard Rock- Hollywood

I had 2 comped nights at the Hard Rock, so I drove down there 6/23 & 6/24. They are building a new hotel there shaped like a guitar and it looks like its going to be really neat. It is scheduled to open 10/24. But that is then and this is now. So I check in and the desk clerk assigns me to room 236 on the 2nd floor of the north tower. So I unload my belongings and go down to the casino for about 4 hours of play. The layout for the slot machines is helter skelter, as the entire area is torn up for the construction. But I did notice how many of the newer slots have oriental themes. DRAGONS AND ORIENTAL STYLE ANIMALS ARE EVERYWHERE. It used to be that the HR had a lot of 2 cent machines, but now you can select the denomination of the machine ( 1 cent, 2 cent, 5 cents or 10 cents). After 4 hours play, I was down $200 so that is not too bad. But by 8PM I was very tired so I waved them goodbye and went up to bed. But then several problems emerged. #1- The TV would not turn on. So I called maintenance and they found someone had unplugged it in the back of the TV. #2- The A/C gauge on the wall showed 26.5 as the temp. and would not go any higher. Again maintenance found that it was set to Celsius degrees. There is a very small knob on the front, in between the upper and lower arrows, that changes the setting between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Never hit that before. So I get everything the way I want it, and go to bed.

Day #2- I am awakened at 7AM by what sounds like a jackhammer in the next room. I cannot even hear the TV. So, after an initial cup of coffee, I get the heck out of there and head for breakfast. Upon questioning, casino personnel tell me that the desk clerk should never have assigned me to that 2nd floor. It is the noisiest of all the floors during construction. And that noise continues all day, as I went up about 2PM for a nap and could not sleep due to the noise. It continued until after 6PM.

Now I know management wanted the new hotel finished ASAP, but they were pushing the workers to do so at any cost to the guests. If I had known how noisy it would be, I never would have gone down. The new hotel looks beautiful, and I am looking forward to seeing it later in the year. QUITE UNIQUE!! I must have played the slots for 6 hours that 2nd day, in between going to the pool. As usual, I had a lot of fun and contributed my fair share. If only the Jackhammers could be put away!!

Good health and good luck to all who read this.

I am surprised they didn't offer to move you. Love the Hard Rock. I almost went there today for 350.00 free play but decided against the 1 1/2 hour drive.

Wow, you must be a slot "whale" to get $350 FP. My drive is 5 hours each way, so 1 1/2 hours would not have been a problem. I did not request a move because the noise started on my 2nd day, and I was leaving the next morning.

You gotta make that drive for three-fiddy.
Moved back to Ohio from AZ. Rude awakening. The Ohio casinos are horrible.
