    Thought of you Kuda....

Seems like the first time in many, many, years that it didn't rain on Memorial day weekend.

We were invited to a friends house for a large gathering to celebrate. Met a lot of new people and one man got me very curious about his past hobby which was collecting Plymouth Barricuda automobiles. He lived about 3 miles away and invited me to take a quick ride with him to examine his " Fleet" which I did.
Turned out to be a 100+ acre farm which he had inherited from his parents when they passed on. Seems his Dad was actually the collector and in a pasture out behind the house sat the skeletons of 27 Barricudas in all their past glory resting for eternity. Asked him what his Dad had planned to do with them and he said, " Don't really know, he just liked to sit and look at them sitting out there. He kept finding them and towing them back here to join the others, and had traveled extensively to find them ".
They ranged in age from 1964-1974 which I guess was the life span for that model of car, and I have to admit I wondered if Kuda and her husband had known any of these cars..
Occasionally word gets out and someone will come to look at them and need a part off one of them which he's glad to help out with.
Said he just plans on letting them sit there as a lasting memory and tribute to his Dad.
We drove back to the party and Surprise, Surprise, found Rebecca and Tyler there, as they are related to someone here, and she had to take my wife and I around and introduce us to everyone, who several times commented, " So this is Pops, finally glad we got to meet him and thank him ", which made me blush , and when I looked at her she punched me in the arm and gave me a hug.

Great day with wonderful people, hope your day was likewise...

    Bettinman,
What a great story about the Cudas. I bet the guys dad would have had a lot of stories to tell through the years about the cars. My husband and I went a lot of places looking for Cudas through the years too.
The last few weeks have been rough over in this area. Oklahoma has had a ton of tornadoes and lots of rain. The tornadoes have been too close for comfort in this area.
Riversporit had to close because the Arkansas River is causing a lot of flooding. Their beautiful pool is full of mud as of now. They hope to reopen next Wednesday. I read they are still paying all their employees which is great to know.
I hope you had a great Memorial Day. Thank you for thinking about me. Good luck when you go to a Casino.

We pray for the safety of all affected right now by these weather events. We had tornado warning advisories last night here in Pennsylvania and the shore areas of southern New Jersey with 5 confirmed sightings and touch down reported.
Seems to me that these weather related tragedies are occurring much more frequently all over the world, and that Mother Nature is telling us she's not happy with us right now.

Back a few years ( ahem), one of my dear friends ( who has since passed on) owned one of these. The year was 1973, and I was 17. The Baracuda was a medium brown, with a hatchback. Paul ( that was my friend's name) was a delightful guy, and we had spent a TON of time riding around in that car. I would be walking around near my house, and if Paul drove by, he would pick me up for a whirl around town. We would BLAST the stereo/radio... mostly Meatloaf's Paradise By The Dashboard Light, while driving around town, or sitting at the A & W drinking a frosty root beer that came on a window tray ( I worked there, and got my root beers at a "discount" ) singing along to the tune, and at the top of our lungs when the " do you love me" part of the song came up. I spent a lot of time in that Baracuda... along with my boyfriend ( now my hubby). WE camped in it, drank in it, smoked weed in it, sang in it.... those were the days!! the memories you have dusted off for me with your story.... thanks, again, Betttin Man... I have not thought about those days in a LONG time.... I am gonna go and listen to a little Meatloaf now....

I was at Hard Rock one night for a nice dinner. There was a guy singing while everyone ate. He was singing some of the great oldies. Everyone was really enjoying the music. Those were the days when the music was cool and you could understand the words. I listen to a radio station in my car that plays the music from the 60's and 70's and some of the early 80's. It brings back a lot of great memories. When my husband and I showed our 1971 Cuda years ago at the ISCA car shows we displayed the car on a turntable at the shows. Of course we had to have the song by Heart called Barracuda play while the car turned on the turntable. I miss all the good times we shared.
    Good luck everyone.

We used to sing that song too... We have the Heart LP in our collection.... although we have a lot of rock and roll, and a TON of the blues.
