This is so right. Getting a $1200 jackpot is not what it used to be with betting amounts increasing. It's really burdensome to players to have to try to keep track of W-2's for the year when they go on vacation, etc. And most people just write it off to zero anyways because they lose eventually. Only having to report the very rare win over $5000 would be way better. Additionally, it seems like the government is getting more money than they should because even if you write off your wins with losses, it bumps your marginal tax rate up (I think?).
