    Biloxi Fun

    Trip Report:
    @DMoney45

We were moving slow and didn't leave until 9am. This would put us in Biloxi around 6pm. No problem getting out of Texas 3.5 hours lol. Then as soon as we drive into Louisiana the weather turned to crap! Driving rain off and on till we get to Mississippi. Then it quit. This put us an hour behind so we got to Harrahs at 7 PM.

Below is the email I sent to the hotel manager and sums up the hotel. In Biloxi we have always stayed at the IP but David doesn't like their casino so I tried Harrah's.

    Hello Tonecia,**

We stayed this last Saturday (23) and Sunday (24) in room 203.* *

I booked an online a gulf view room about two weeks ago, they showed available. The Saturday was to be $200 ish and Sunday "comp".* I paid a deposit of $208.**

We drove in from Texas and as I normally do I called the hotel with our eta.* I checked my reservation for a gulf view king ns room was correct.* I was told it was.* I also explained it was our anniversary and requested a high floor. My husband doesn't get much time off so I try to make what time he gets the best.**

Fast forward to check in about 7pm Saturday.* There was a pretty good line with only two people working.* The man that helped me, I was so irritated I forgot name, tells me they have no gulf views available.* I tell him that is what I booked and expected.* He gives me this mess that no it's an upgrade if available.* I'm like no I didn't pay for if available upgrade. I paid for a specific room showing available.* I requested a high floor and if that is not available then I understand.* He then went back into same story that with booking we are only guaranteed a room not a specific room.**

Really so by this logic I could have booked and paid for the $1000 presidential suite then still got stuck with what I had?*

Back to doofus at counter ... I ask him what he has available with view?* Two queen smoking that is literally opposite of what I booked. That is it or a king with no view.* Ok fine I'm tired.* Then he gives me the whopper ... I have you in room 203 that's the pet floor.* He asks if that's a problem ... um yeah I don't a dog with me do I?* He says let me see ... if we can do something.* If maybe we can wait till some others are cleaned another hour or so.* Yes that's what I want to do after a 9 hour drive mostly in horrible weather.* At this point I feel like I have been bait and switched big time.* But I try one more time. I ask him so my reservation only guarantees me a room not a specific one no matter what room I book?* He says yes.* Okay and right now at 7 ish in the evening you only have the 2 queen smoking and the dog floor.* That is correct.* So where are you putting all these kind folks behind me?* He literally says it depends on what they booked!* I'm done please just give me the keys to the doghouse.**

At no time did he offer to call management.*

I could have gotten the same room at a pet friendly chain hotel for more than half the price.* With no resort fee.* *We travel with our dog for business and know the prices.* I splurged so my husband would have a nice view which he loves for our anniversary trip.* Instead he had a view of the grassy area in the back aka the dog shitter.**

I expect a refund in some capacity.* I feel very ripped off.

    Thank you,*

    Traci Money*

I will update ya'll on that later.

So off to play. We played at Harrahs a bit no wins, just up and down. We both agreed the casino just seemed very small considering the property size. After an hour we ate at Steak and Shake. Good service and food taste like SNS always does. Food is weird to me but David says it's an Indiana thing and he likes it. At dinner we decided to head down to Gold Nugget only maybe half mile walk. Why not? When we took off there was a misting that became a light rain by the time we arrived. Got dried off in el bano no big deal.
Walked the maze that is GN casino floor so excited to find some games we loved. We also tried some new. On the way out I just had to play some fire island that was in ns. Dave sucked it up for me. I love this game! I got the bonus in just a few spins and guess what? I hit the 1000x on wheel! So I got $10 every time bonus symbol hit during 7 free spins. .30 bet and won $100. Love it. Outside it is now a pretty steady rain ... I tried to talk him into a Lyft... not happening. Like a drowned rat when we got back lol. Dried off and went to play some cards while rent to room. Played 21+3 for a bit with one dealer ... got a straight flush on a nickle bet I won $150. Then another dealer came in, I was steady with her but she was grouchy about me and another guys uneven bets so I left. I had $75 and should gone upstairs but was too tipsy to find cage so like the degenerate I am lost it at another table. At least my 2nd floor room was easy to find.

We totally slept in Sunday till 10 am. Trevor called (5 yo) g baby ... I woke up to Hi Grandma! I love you! ... pretty awesome.

Time to go exploring and check out Scarlett Pearl we have heard so much about. Loved it from the start ... everytime you turned a corner someone was in a bonus or winning. The players club agent was so nice. We each got $10 in fp to start then more later. Also coupons for saving at all their restaurants. And get this free mini golf. We forget to check the close time so we missed out but it looks like fun.

We played an hour or so the ate at buffet Sunday brunch discounted. Great food and service. Our waitress was great! She mentioned an issue with panic attacks. After we were stuffed piggies I asked if I could pray over her. She welcomed this and it was awesome. She wanted to keep in touch with us so Dave gave her his card to reach us. She emailed the most awesome email later that night.

Ok moving on ... I wanted to play cards at Boomtown. I sat at a $5 bj table that had 3 porker side and top 3. Which pays crazy odds for just 3 hands. The +3 paid 9xs. Both were a $1 min. So I'm having fun with table and good dealer. But not winning or even close calls on sides so I pulled them. Voice in my head was screaming not to pull but I didn't listen. I was dealt two 4 clubs my stomach churned and heart sank. Then the dealer flipped hers another one! If I had my normal nickle bets it would have been over $1500 payout! I was so so sour. I cussed at the table ... it was terrible and all my fault. The other players cussed with me. I think even the pit boss cussed. I left found David to go.

He took me on a ride watching the sunset on beach boulevard. Then to Treasure Bay down on the Gulfport end. This place is small, cramped and awesome. Played slots for a bit then won enough to go check out a table. Something called 3 card bj with side poker. $3 hand and $1 side. The dealer June helped me figure out and then it was so fun. The cocktail waitress came by every 10 to 15 min with drinks played a good two hours. David did well on slots too.

We moved on to Island View but it was sad and disappointing. We decided to drive back over to Scarlett Pearl.
More fun there then back to Harrahs.

Decided to eat dinner in bar by hotel ... told they close at 10pm in five minutes. We stayed anyway. Food was great but service sucked. played in Harrahs a little more.

Up and out this morning about 10ish. Went over to the beach for some prayer time. I love praying in God's beautiful places.

Now we are almost home again.
My kids say I have a gambling problem ... nope I have no problem with it at all!

I've been to Biloxi over 50 times. Like any other casino town when you "reserve" a room you are only getting the right to have one. Oh, you can make recommendations, like King bed, etc. but that is all they are and if they have that available at the time you check in you will get it. Otherwise you get what they have. In fact the desk help might as well have that tattooed on their foreheads. Not their fault. It is what it is. I hope you didn't let that spoil your anniversary. Life is too short to nitpick about things beyond your control. Especially if policy dictates certain things. Biloxi is much less stressful than Vegas with its street people and panhandlers. Just good country folk in my opinion. I prefer it to Vegas. So as my Father who always quoted Hee Haw used to say, "You all come back now, hear!"

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip somewhat. I don't go to Island View. No one ever wins there. Plus, their Beach casino has minimum bet buttons disabled on their slots (well at least the ones we tried to play the only time we visited.) That turned me off, too many casinos on the Gulf Coast to chose from to tolerate that.

Really? If I call and make a reservation.....Its a reservation, not a pull up and say "got any rooms"!

You're WRONG!!! It just entitles you to a room and the room of your choice only if they have it.

I agree I was completely baffled also. I have never had that even at other Harrah properties ... normally in Biloxi we go to IP and I reserve a bay view, the first time they upgraded us to a bay view suite with an extra night ... the second time they upgraded my other room I had for my uncle to the suite.
Harvey's (Harrah) in Lake Tahoe upon hearing it was our first time there gave us a top floor suite

I'm not sure about Harrahs Gulf coast but at the Beau Rivage its what's available when you check in. We get comped rooms, but I did pay $10.00 to assure I got a gulfview last November. I only did this because there was a concert that night and I was concerned I would be assigned a city-view room. I don't like the city side because the freight trains disturb my sleep at night. Otherwise, I've never had an issue not getting what I reserved at Beau Rivage or IP. I would think though, if your reservations went through a host, you're guaranteed the room you want.

That is pretty harsh in all caps there. I don’t find their logic wrong. I hope this thread gets a real answer. I have never heard of downgrading of a price point room. Usually it is an upgrade. If you have 4 options to choose from with 1 the lowest base, 2 cost $200 more bc it’s 100 more sq ft. 3 costs 200 more then 2 bc it is 450 sq ft with separate tub shower and 4 is the highest as a suite, each is independent from the other. Since these are all different room types not requests, you believe I pay $600 nt for room 3 and it’s ok for them to put me in the $100 room 1? So logically a refund of the difference should be paid. But by your answer I can pay for type 1 and expect a suite. The guy told her the people behind her will be put in the rooms they paid for.

Im thinking requests vs. price point are different. Now if I pay for type 3 room with king nonsmoking and they are out, then yes it’s fair to offer type 3 with 2 queens smoking. If all of those are out then it’s upgrade to a suite.

    This should be enlightening.
