    Remembering Liz.

It will be 1 year today since my Dear friend, Liz, was killed while crossing the street from the city bench where she spent 8+ years making and selling her crafts, and was known and loved by just about everyone in Bethlehem, Pa.
She made several good luck charms which several of us promoted and sold for her at the Sands and Mt.Airy Casino's over the years, and helped to supplement her income and existence living on the streets..
Liz was a proud , and self sufficient woman, who would not accept charity, and took great pride in the joy that her crafts brought to many over the years.
None of us knew very much about her or where she would disappear to every night, only to reappear the next morning with fresh clothes, having bathed, and wearing fresh makeup. I would stop by and visit her each Thursday morning after leaving the Sands and bring her a large tea with Lemon, and a Blueberry Scone, which would produce a smile from ear to ear on her.
After her death, the massive effort and work by a lot of good people would locate her estranged Mother and Sister, who arrived to claim her body and return her to NYC where she had grown up and now rests.. One of our local Morticians absorbed the full price of the burial, and her transportation back to NYC.
The search for her son, who she had to give up for adoption after moving to Bethlehem, continues, and wlll for another 3 years, as there is a substantial Go Fund Me account set up for him. If after that time he is not located the funds will go to the Church she went to nightly for her dinner and the kitchen will be named for her.
I'll pay a visit to the bench tomorrow if the weather cooperates and bring something hot for the man who took over selling crafts from that special bench, just as Liz had taught him to do before she left us.

What a wonderful community to honor her, as you did weekly. Gosh I hope they find her son. Sending a prayer up for that to happen. She must have been quite a lady.

Just got a call and we will be holding a candle light service tonight for her and filming it for her Mother and Sister in NYC.

Several of the merchants who were close to her every day have agreed to go dark for 1 minute tonight at 6:41 , the time she was killed, to honor her memory.

    Hi Steph,

Yes we do know her name, and the search for her son is being handled by a local attorney, free of charge, and the Pastor of the Church that she would visit nightly and have dinner at.
