It's too bad the government doesn't do the right thing and outright ban the damn things. Illinois did the next best thing and banned them from all public places including their casinos.
I'm goin" to Illinois!! What you stated is the absolute truth. I once smoked too, and now, I can't stand them.... and I always wonder just how it was I even started. And... yes, here where I live, they are $8 - 10 a pack!!

Thank you all for the words of encouragement. I just got back from a follow up visit to the pulmonologist. My lungs are clear and I have not lost oxygen intake. He did warn me that I cannot keep rolling the dice on this and said that if you quit, the lungs will over time "rejuvenate" to a good extent.

That is good news. Already cutting down quite a bit. I'll get there.

Since I open up the company at 5:00 am , I'm the " Milk Man " as well. The production manager comes in at 5:30 and when he arrives I run over to the supermarket for the " Moo Juice "..
2 Gallons of milk and I'm through the Express Line. Man in his 60's ahead of me purchases 2 packs of some Generic brand smokes @ $ 7.50 a pack and was required to show his drivers license for a scan which is now required on all tobacco purchases regardless of your age. Since I don't smoke I was never aware of that requirement now in Pa.
Two packs a day @ $7.50 is $ 15.00 more a day ( 30 spins ) I would have to low roll those Timber Wolves and make em Howl !!! That would be my incentive along with staying top side a bit longer......

Moto... you can do this.. I am 18 months quit. I quit cold turkey because of a health scare. It is probably the hardest thing I have ever done, but it is doable.
It doesn't bother me when someone sits next to me at a machine and lights up.There are so many different forums on smoking and I had a book called "Allen Carr's
Easy way to stop smoking ". I think I got it from Amazon.. Read it if you can !!I carried around a lot of ginger and mints and twizzers.. I've gained a lot of weight, but hopefully I'll loose it soon.. BEST OF LUCK.... Do it one day at a time..

Funny, isn't it... how we measure our spending in terms of "how many spins...." I do that too!!!

I was a casual smoker in my younger years, when I had a beer, after dinner, in the car, etc. When I had my son 40 years ago, I was rocking him to sleep and lit up; just as I was taking a puff he kicked out a leg in his sleep, knocked the cigarette out of my hand and it dropped on him and got caught up in his blanket and jammies. It only took a couple seconds to get it, but the damage was done, it landed on his chest and burned him (he still has the small scar); that was it for me, I never picked up another smoke. My DH quit 20 years ago when he figured out he was spending over $100 a week in cigarettes - 2-3 packs a day and he couldn't go up the stairs without wheezing. Just think about how much $$$$ you will have for other "hobbies" - hint, hint. Good luck, you can do it - everyone has their own motivational trigger.
