5 year hiatus...

After a 5 year hiatus from the Casino, I went back to see what was there and play a bit.

It seems to me that hand pays. or just wins over $1000 are far more rare on the newer games even though max bet amounts are higher. Those multi stack games like Golden Goddess (example) which can barely pay $100 on a full screen of Women and $2.50 bet is a perfect example. I played Game Of Thrones, put in $300, $5 per spin and never got a bonus. I think my best hit wasn't even $40. Played a wheel of fortune game and it seems like at $3 max bet, the best you can win is roughly $30 - $40 on a picking bonus!!. The free spin bonus is a little better, but the payout odds for what is being bet is absolutely atrocious! Then on to the some cheesey ainsworth(?) games where max bet is $1.50, but the payouts are so lousy there is just no way to ever get ahead. Oh, and I did play Super Wheel Blast and there's another game with miserable payouts (outside of a bonus) and a bonus that is much harder to get than you are tricked into thinking. Played World Of Wonka too... another game where you just feel hoplessly ripped off with no chance for anything. Every spin was almost nothing and no bonus. Nobody was playing it. The only game I see people playing a lot is lightning link.

Many of the games just seem more geared to very small wins which meets the payback percentage.

I am doing my best to not go to my local, very few bonuses and payouts are ridiculous!

While that sounds good, the reality is my local is busy all week long and packed on the weekends. So unless ALL those folks stay away, nothing is going to change...motto: Nothing's gonna change.

I am impressed ! How did you stay away? Exclusion program? Got the particulars on the program because I was thinking of doing it for my local which is 20 minutes away. Changed my mind when I found out I couldn't go to a hard rock Hollywood or Tampa.

You're not wrong. Gambling isn't very unpredictable playing slots for sure, you just assume your money will be gone soon with no hope to win big or medium.

Cost of constructing new buildings resulted in a loss for the consumer. Getting more expensive and way tighter slots etc now still fun though

I go less now that my local is Tampa Hard Rock. Very, extremely tight slots there. I went with my cousin earlier today because he had 100 free play. He was playing and I only had 20 on me.

I decided to put my 20 in a 25 cent machine for 2 spins at 10 bucks, what the hell. I forget the name of the machine, but you get maps for bonus symbols. First spin, I hit 4 maps for 40 bucks and 20 free spins. Oh, I'm gonna be rich.. 20 dead spins and ended up with 40 bucks! Then, I went to a fire and light machine. Again, first spin 4 bonus symbols at a 2 dollar bet. I won the trigger amount only, all dead spins. When you go there, you either get no bonus', or bonus' with no payout. No in between.

You know...I've heard SO MANY HORROR STORIES about Tampa Hard Rock....so many negative comments,so many bad reviews,that the mere mention of that place,just hearing those 3 words together,"Tampa","Hard",and "Rock"....makes me feel DISGUST.


Even if someone says they won there,I still recoil just hearing the name.

LOL, I've actually done well at Tampa Hard Rock the few times I've gone. But I agree, everyone else has bad stories.

I agree with the original post. The bet size has increased and the wins have decreased.

If you look at WMS 3-reel games as an example. On Willy Wonka 3 reel, the max bet is $3.50. Every now and then you see people hitting hand pays on those machines in an Oompa Loompa, Wonka, or Charlie Bonus.

Their new 3-reel games, like Margaritaville and Price is Right have a lot less win potential it seems. I seriously doubt you will ever see a handpay video for one of those uploaded to YouTube even though the maximum bet is $5.00. They seem to bonus a bit more though.

But yeah, the whole experience sucks even compared to just 5 or so years ago. That's why I rarely go now. It's simply not fun. I also think the new slots are kind of just generally poorly designed nowadays. They think they can just shove fancy graphics and big screens on consumers and that's enough. 90% of these games are terrible and it's evident in how they come and go from the casinos... like take the Wizard of Oz themed slots timeline...

WOZ - still in some casinos
Ruby Slippers - still in a lot of casinos
Wicked Witch of the West - this one was actually not terrible... but it's gone
Ruby Slippers 2 - objectively terrible... gone
The Multiple WOZ community games - gone
WOZ Gamefield game - terrible... gone
Road to Emerald City - hard to find now... probably soon to be gone
Not in Kansas - I'd be surprised if this lasts more than a year or two

I'm sure the next version will be some hyper-advanced 4D slot where you can smell the poppy flowers. The gameplay and win potential will still probably suck and you'll probably get annoying big win music for a 5x win.
