Are casinos in Atlantic City still fairly terrible?

I haven't been to (any) casinos in about half a year... mostly because the customer service is bad and the slot payouts are horrible. But my better half and I have a weekend completely off and were thinking of going to Atlantic City. The last time I was there the payouts were really really bad in my opinion, at least at Borgata and Caesars... Is that still generally the case? I figured Borgata would be pretty bad once MGM took it over but maybe that's given all the other casinos license to pay bad as well?

Can anyone recommend a good place to play?

was there this past weekend. I had a good run at Bally's, Caesar's, and Harrah's. Borgata was pretty bad for me - the new Lucky 88 destroyed me, as well as uh ... the Buffalo game in the middle, the one with the lines ... forgot the name.

The mix of games at Borgata is still one of my favorites, but I found Bally's to be nice and cozy, in some respects, with a lot of games I liked.

Thanks. I always liked Borgata's mix of games, but I'm skeptical about gambling there because of the MGM takeover. Which of Bally's, Caesar's, Harrah's did you like the most?

Do NOT go to Bally's.... when we were there, it was the tightest casino I have ever been to.... that and Resorts. We did ok at Borgata, and the casino near the Borgata ( I have forgotten the name) and the Tropicana.

Just read the monthly reports put out by the State. Overall slot payouts not much different than most states.

Comes down to preference. You are in DMV area, right? I tend to think of Bally's like a bigger ... Hollywood Perryville or Rocky Gap (or Ocean Downs).

I had a decent run there on most machines. The two banks of lightning link, when going nickel or dimes, treated me well. There's a mix of old and new there. Between the three, I liked the combination of games at Harrah's moreso than Caesar's/Bally's. Now, the rooms at Bally's ... haven't been there in ages. I was over at Caesar's and went over to Waterfront Buffet for the Crab legs.

Certainly, I get that a lot of people still find the TR properties tight, so I'm only speaking to this past weekend for me. I've had good runs at Borgata before, even post-MGM takeover.

I didn't go to Trop this time, but last time, I iked the mix of games there at Trop now as well.

Honestly, with me and AC ... I sort of skip around till I find a place that I feel hot at.

Yeah, DMV area here so I know those casinos you're referencing. Thanks this was helpful. I guess we will just check them all out and see which one looks the best. I always used to like the mix at Harrah's more as well, so I'll probably check that one out. Thanks!

This review was spot on. I tried all of the casinos and I agree... Ballys is just awful. Probably one of the worst casinos I’ve ever been to if not the worst. Definitely one of the tightest. Resorts was good though and people seemed to all be doing well. Borgata was ok.

Everyone was complaining about the slots at ballys though but they didn’t seem to want to leave because it’s snowing outside. I guess they take full advantage of a captive audience. But you’d think with their terrible hold percentage that they’d have enough money to remodel the place...

Now I remember why I stopped gambling.
