    RIP old School @ Foxwoods

As if Chris Cornell's passing was not sad enough news (devastating for some of us 90's kids)...yesterday at Foxwoods I was saddened to see one of the 4 machine banks of old school $10 slots gone in the hl room in Great Cedar. Replaced with fancy smancy progressive and some strange new top dollar junk.

There is now just one bank of old $10 classics left. These were good games with what I suspected to have really high rtp (97-98 pct). Not saying one couldn't loose his or her shirt but these games payed out frequently and at times very well. I would bet the farm the "replacement" games pay less. I am sick of progressives becoming increasingly common in hl rooms.

There is something to be said for old school 3 reel, authentic vegas style games which I believe casinos are slowly phasing out

Chris Conell's passing? He hung himself. I've never understood why some resort to this. Brad Delp did the same thing - although not the same method.

well however he passed doesn't matter, life is really hard for some folks and not everyone can just "move on" from whatever troubles him or her

May is mental health awareness month.. Not to hijack this thread, but I must! Mental illness is horrible and complicated. Depression does not discriminate as to income level. The music world lost a phenomenal talent.
I can speak for a very close family member who cannot speak for himself that mental illness, in many forms, whether PTSD, depression, bipolar, etc. are oftentimes misunderstood, misdiagnosed and stigmatized. Please take a moment to remember he struggled and eventually, his illness took over.

TripleDoubleDiamond, I know what you mean about the 'old school' slots! I love a lot of the mechanical slots (including the ones that have Triple symbols and Double symbols). My highest win ever was on the 5X machine (50 cents at X3 won me $2300 or $2400 (I cannot remember) ).

So many of the new 'movie or tv show themed' games are huge. While playing, you may not hit anything until you FINALLY get a bonus and they pay so little! I have no clue about percentage payouts, but I just feel that it is all glitz and show and whistles and bells and then you win almost nothing when you DO win. Like it will give you a special announcement for BIG WIN and it turns out to be $10 or something...Haha!

As I have posted somewhere else on this board, my favorite slot of all time was a mechanical one called "Knights and Dragons'. There is at least one Youtube video of it, but I will not post it here. Sadly, the only two machines that I know of this game at Parx are now gone.

Most of the casinos that I go to are phasing out the 'old games' and bringing in the flashier games.

(With that said, I DO like some of the new games...I just do not seem to ever do well on them)

Yup, the same thing where I play Zues. Can't hit much of anything on the newer ones, and they're too loud/bright. Not what ya want in a HL room. Poor machine selection for that area.

Yeah, it seems like the bonus is the goal with the new machines. More people are speed playing and shooting for that bonus. Then most of the time the bonus pays crap. The new poker machines are lousy too. Computers disguised as slot machines. Illusion. Maybe they'll come to their greedy senses soon and do the right thing.
