How many spins would it take

    Hi

2nd post this evening, sitting here bored, so thought I would ask this.

If you played the same online slot game all the time, which has 5 reels, 13 different symbols and 25 win lines.

What would be the maximum number of spins you could expect to play without hitting the games jackpot, which is 10000 x Line Bet?

You could play forever and not hit it. You could also hit it on the first spin. The odds of hitting the jackpot are the same on every spin but your probability would increase with each spin. On a 90% payback machine, you would need 11,111 lines that pay zero to equal out your jackpot line.

first, you're missing some information here. Yes there are 13 different symbols overall, but how many symbols are there total on each reel? How many of the top paying symbol appear on each reel?

In your simple discussion of 5 reels, 13 symbols per reel without repeats of the same symbol, and 1 top symbol per reel, your odds would be:

    (1/13)^5 divided by 25 total lines = 1 in 371,293 spins

However, machines are typically designed to be much more expansive than this, where each reel is 50+ symbols "long" and there are 1-3 top symbols per reel.

What about the blanks between symbols, they count too? Do digital display (electronics machines) have blanks I never noticed.

Bored here too. But as previous peeps have indicated, there are many variables missing in this equation.
