New member here from South Carolina

Hello, new to the forum but not to slots! I've been to Vegas, Atlantic City, Tunica, Detroit, and Europe in the past but pretty much go to Vegas and Harrah's Cherokee in NC now. Most recently I've been to a couple of slot tournaments in Vegas this year. I actually came in second and won 15K in June at Harrah's tournament. Of course it was Casino play so I had to cycle it through the slots to turn it into cash. Figuring out how to do it (in the most efficient way) is how I found this site. It seems that the best way to cycle the money was to play a draw poker machine. I could not find a 9:6 machine so I had to play an 8:6 machine and ended up with $13,600 out of the original 15k. Heading back to Vegas in Aug and Sep to play in a couple more tournaments. I usually stay at Harrah's, Flamingo, or Planet Hollywood, depending on what comp is available. I'm a Total Rewards member so I usually gamble at Ceasar's properties, but I really like going downtown to the old school casinos and have done OK there, hitting a $1000 and $800 jackpot within 20 minutes of each other back in March.

I've noticed the slots at Harrah's in Cherokee, NC seem to be newer and more exciting than the one's in Ceasar's Vegas casinos, but they seem to be way tighter and my money does not last long unless I hit something big. My Favorite slots are Monopoly Money in Cherokee and Megabucks in Vegas. I know Megabucks is for suckers but the chance to change my life in one spin appeals to me (and I hit a $3000 jackpot back in January)

My slots philosophy is always bet the max on whatever machine you're playing and never play with scared money! This has worked for me almost every time I follow it and has cost me big when I don't, most recently just a week ago at Harrah's Cherokee. I won't tell you how much it cost me (unless you really want to know) but I will never, ever press the play button again without the max bet selected.

Upcoming trips: Vegas, Aug 18th-22nd, Vegas, Sept 9th-12th, Vegas Dec 26th-Jan 2

Looking forward to hearing about you guys winning big!

    Phil - Greenville, SC

Welcome Phil. For years my wife and I went to Vegas for a week in the summer, but now that we have moved back to VA our annual trip has been to Cherokee. We try to get there for a week end about every other month.

Sounds like you have had some great luck and fun so far this year, turning $15k in free play into almost $14k in real money is awesome. Hopefully most of your wins were under $1,200 to avoid the tax hit.

I too live in SC but over near the beach. Just getting back on the forum and trying to get caught up on things... but welcome!! Do you ever get over to the Myrtle Beach area? That Big M Casino cruise is really not that bad and IMO the slots are looser than the land base casinos. Also... no W2Gs when your winnings occur outside of state waters. Of course you would claim them, just nice to not get that W2G.
