    Youtube RED

So what do y'all think of the new subscription service that will be rolling out on the 28th? I personally think it's a bad idea. I know I won't pay 10 bucks a month for ad free videos, and I don't think many other people will either.

This is the first I have heard of it. You tube keeps changing and I keep losing interest. Every since it connected with Google I have lost interest. Doesn't seem like that would go over very well but you never know! Will be interesting to see what happens!

I really can't imagine many would pay. It's hard to pay for something you're so used to getting for free.

I could see YouTube Red being popular, since many people hate ads and would pay a small monthly fee to get rid of it. Personally, I will not pay for it, since I don't mind watching up to a 30-second commercial to view YouTube videos.

I remember that's what they said about cable TV.

So how would that affect videographers and their pay? Without paying ads, will youtube pay them out of their $10 sub fee?

Yes, the paid subs will all go into a pool, and then be divided amongst all who opt in. They say it is possible to make much more with RED, then with just ads. I'm sure it will take a while to get it all sorted out, so who knows. There will still be the regular youtube with ads, so that doesn't change.

I have been noticing way more ads in the videos lately on youtube. Is this the future? I watched a show on there and every 7 minutes there was a 2 minute ad.

How long was the video you were watching? Before RED started I have watched videos with several Ads, it depends on how long it is. I have not noticed any more Ads then usual.

About 45 minutes. It was an episode of Gold Rush.
