Here is the 2014 catalog. Games begin on p 5.
There are some here that I remember getting good pays on in bonuses - I think there is volatility (and those with progs diminish the reg pays of course) but I've had some fun on some of these.

QH is the only Bally's game I like. I prefer the penny version max bet at $1.50 for a good bankroll longevity and hit frequency. Hard to find these. HOT SHOT games is always enticing but I never seem to come out ahead on it.

I agree as well- I have always liked most of the versions of Quick Hits too- have had some luck and wins on them. I also really liked the Bally games from a few years ago- when they did the Aristocrat clones- like Mustang, Dolphins, etc. Cash Eddy is one of my favorite games they ever made but its very rare. Any Bally reel games are always great but very rare now.

The new games in the past two years are terrible- I will try any game once, but once I see that 5 of a kind pays 32 cents on a $1 bet I know what kind of game it is. Even with those low pays, its still hard to get a bonus and the bonuses typically pay less than $5. I saw that some of those new games like Titanic have some of the lowest paybacks of any games made, makes me thing the other non-licensed ones are bad too.

I'll suggest Alice and the Scattered Hearts -- the lone Bally slot that I've gotten consistently decent play out of in the last 2 years.

The base game isn't much better than a coin vacuum, but the picking bonus can recover your money quickly if you're lucky enough to pick the highest-value card. The free spin bonus is an Aristocrat Buffalo wannabe in that symbol payoffs and wild layouts are different, but there is still the same huge win potential if you can line up the wilds good -- in this case, filling up reels 2 and 4 with a 3x wild and getting a premium symbol on each of the other 3 reels.

As Kronos mentioned with Fu Dao Le some of the newer Bally's games have been drawing attention. You can get some extremely nice hits on .38 and .88 cent bets when the Good Fortune feature comes up. Better Off Ed is another new Bally title I've really been enjoying. Frequent bonuses and the progressive wheel comes up quite often.

The biggest issue with Bally games seems to be that the wins seem proportionate and affected by the progressives.

I'm a huge fan of dragon rising, same cabinet as Fu Dao Le. Some casinos have max bet at $2.75 and some $5.50, both seem to be too high for most people. I love sitting down at them and getting angry stares as I'm winning the progressives their not qualified for.

Better off Ed though, at least the ones near me, seem to be tapped out. I've tried max betting and low rolling to no avail. I think I've only gotten the free spins twice. Every time the wild thing comes up, I get like three on the last two reels.

I swore off Bally machines for about 6 months then played a Dragon Rising at Blue Chip last Saturday. Put in $100 and was up over $500 in less than 15 minutes - 6 claw balls (whatever those are called!) twice (each $130+), the red envelope progressive ($113) and three bonuses between $40 and $60.

I'll start showing Bally machines a little more love from now on.
