    Craps Superstitions/Quirks

Craps is a game filled with them. I saw a first on my trip last week. The guy made his point (4) and on the come out rolled a seven. "New dice". Huh? Followed that with PSO.

I think the only ones I believe in are no buying in big mid-roll (more of a courtesy thing), not saying seven (psychological), and that the dice tend to land on seven when they bounce all over the table (because of my pure, dumb "luck", haha).

Anyone else have any they subscribe to or wacky ones they've seen?

Ok here we go. I always bet a hi low after a hard 4 or 10. I always bet a 3 11 after a 5 or 9. If they come out with a hard 6 or 8 I always bet the opposite hard. If you roll a craps I bet a yo or horn hi yo. If you roll a yo I bet a 3 or horn high 3. If ten is the point on the comeout hard or not I bet a hi lo. I never buy in when the puck is on. WOW I have issue's. lol

My Craps Superstition is to stop playing it, as I lost several thousand in 2012 playing craps in one night. Since then I think I've played it 1 time haha.
I vow to stop chasing Major Progressives in 2015....I swear!

Harry, I was playing at Ballys AC a few months ago, and this elderly lady was rolling lots of numbers. Then, in the middle of what seemed like a good roll, she asked for new dice! I had never seen that before! Most of the other players took their place bets down. I should have done it too, because she rolled 2 or 3 more numbers before the 7 showed up.

I will not say 7 at the craps table. Otherwise, I'm less superstitious than most players. I don't do anything fancy with the dice, just shake them and throw.

I hate to see the dice hit other players chips. If they do, it usually ends up being a dreaded 7!

Wow that's crazy. I've never been big on the whole "same dice" thing. If it's a good roll, it's a good roll...the dice are falling our way. I once had players get upset with me because the dice flew off the table during a good roll and they were yelling same dice. The box said, what do you want? I'm like, it really doesn't matter just give me some and let's keep it moving. Got new dice and rolled for about another 10-15 minutes.

Oh, and speaking of which, I forgot...my bets come down if the shooter throws them off the table consecutive times.

Some craps superstitions have a basis in fact. For example:

"Dice on the floor. Out the door!" This was because in back alley games or in sawdust joints, this is when gaffed dice would be switched in.

"Same dice!" This is when you are throwing the dice, and you don't want the stickman switching in crooked dice.

Of course, casinos have superstitions as well. When a player is hot, they will attempt to mix the dice in with all the other dice so he can't shoot with the same ones. Or they will have a CW strike up a conversation so that the dice will get cold and "forget" what the point is.
